For those of you that know me, you know that I am one of the least PC people you could ever meet. I firmly believe in the Constitution and this includes freedom of speech and included in freedom of speech is hate speech. It includes things that hurt people’s feelings, makes them mad and even insults the President. Freedom of speech means freedom to insult gays, women, blacks, Christians, cats, politicians or whoever a person wants. Freedom of speech means that if you don’t like what a person is saying, don’t listen. This is not to say all things said would be true, because much of it is morally reprehensible, but it must still be allowed in a country based on freedom of speech.
For some reason our country seems to be getting away from this definition of free speech though. We’re told to be tolerant and respect minorities; not to be judgmental; to be accepting of people from all walks of life; open-doors/open-borders, etc. Anyone not practicing these behaviors is labeled prejudice, racist, homophobic, chauvinistic haters. All of a sudden America has turned into a hypersensitive country opposed to criticism.
Well that is unless you’re conservative or your name is Sarah Palin.
Where is this tolerant, respectful attitude that is praised by the left, when it comes to Sarah Palin? Why has she faced such strong criticism from major media networks and such vicious “hate speech” all in the name of tough journalism? I’m not sure why I’m even bothered by the actions of these supposed tolerant progressives at the major news networks, but I guess it still surprises me when I see such blatant hypocrisy.
Maybe I still hold out some hope in journalists’ abilities to honestly give me the news, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that the press is nothing more than opinionated mouthpieces of the Democratic Party. No, I’m not suggesting the Democratic Party is controlling the media from behind the scenes, but rather, an overwhelming majority of the media just happen to be democrats incapable of refraining from espousing their beliefs. This is inexcusable though, as mainstream journalists have a job to do and their job is not to sway the American citizen to support their political party. Journalists should present the news with facts, not opinions. Give us the facts about the McCain/Palin ticket alongside the facts about Obama/Biden and let us decide for ourselves what to believe.
This is not what has been happening though. The press has been tearing Palin apart and scrutinizing her every move. Hollywood, heralded as the most “liberated” group of tolerant lovers, has been anything but accepting in their assault.
Taking a look around on the internet this evening, I found a feminist blog tearing into Palin, with one woman saying, “She claims to be Pentecostal and is running in 4-inch red high heels with a liar and a beer dealer”
In a standup comedy routine last week, the disgusting Sandra Berndhart says, “Now you got Uncle Women, like Sarah Palin, who jumps on the s**t and points her fingers at other women. Turncoat b***h! Don’t you f**kin’ reference Old Testament, b***h...Don’t you touch my Old Testament, you b***h! Because we have left it open for interpretation! It is no longer taken literally! You whore in your f**kin' cheap New Vision cheap-a** plastic glasses and your hair up”. She went on to say that if Palin were to walk through Manhattan, she would be “gang-raped by blacks” Where is the outrage over this from Jews, blacks and “tolerant” people? I do recall seeing the Kramer video for weeks after his rant and we still hear about the Imus comment. Hold all entertainers to the same standard or, as I would suggest, let them all say whatever they want.
Lindsey Lohan, the recent bi/gay/not straight convert, says, "Is our country so divided that the Republicans best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe?" And Baywatch babe Pam Anderson says, “She can suck it!”
Perhaps one of the most disgusting women I have ever heard, comedian Margaret Cho, said, “I am not voting for McCain. I hope that is obvious. I am sick of everyone saying – “He was a good soldier. He was a good soldier.” Um yeah. He was captured. So he was not that good.
But even though I would never, ever vote for Palin, I am kind of obsessed with ******* her…I want to steam up those glasses and show her what a pit-bull with lipstick really needs…”!
Since when was it okay to speak about women in this fashion? I will never understand the brutal viciousness the left is capable of unleashing against those they disagree with. Democrats pride themselves on being for the little “PERSON” and minorities. The so-called party of gays, blacks, woman and anyone other than “The Man” (straight, white, religious men) is sitting back allowing this language?
Feminism is supposedly built on the concept that women can do anything men can do. Wouldn’t having the ability to serve as VP be included in this? Why do “respected” correspondents like John Roberts on “legitimate” networks like CNN suggest that Palin will be incapable of being VP and also a mother with a Down syndrome child? Did anyone criticize JFK or Bill Clinton for having children at home while trying to serve the country?
Let me be very clear on this; these journalists and entertainment personalities have the right to say these ignorant things, but do not be a hypocrite and criticize the ignorant things you disagree with. Do not burn Imus and Kramer at the stake, but allow people to say this stuff about Palin. If you believe in tolerance, why not extend it to a pro-life woman you disagree with? It’s easy to be tolerant towards someone that you agree with. A truly tolerant person would tolerate a person they did not agree with.
